Greek ambassador: “The current economic crisis in our country has no impact on bilateral relations with Azerbaijan”
A conference dedicated to the ۲۰th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Greece kicked off in Baku on Tuesday, APA reports. In his welcoming speech, Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ioannis Metaxas said the two countries have reached an important progress in the development of bilateral relations in the past ۲۰ years. ۱۷ intergovernmental agreements and memorandums were signed and ۱۰ draft agreements are still in the phase of discussion.
The ambassador said the current economic crisis in his country had no impact on bilateral relations with Azerbaijan. He underlined the existence of large potential for the development of economic-trade relations. “The embassy receives a lot of requests by the businessmen, who show great interest to the cooperation”.
Touching upon the humanitarian relations, the ambassador announced about the start of new education program on ancient Greek history, civilization and language in the framework of the cooperation between the National University of Athens and the Azerbaijan University of Languages.
Vice speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Valeh Aleskerov also focused attention on the intensive development of the relations between the two countries in the past ۲۰ years and said this tendency would be developed.
