About Conference:
In recent years, significant developments have been taken place in the Eurasian region that have affected the interests and security of all Regional actors. The interventions of actors outside the region have played a significant role in both escalating tensions and undermining stability and security in the region. In order to reduce the negative effects of tensions on regional security and stability and realization of the interests of the countries of the region, the need for regional cooperation is increasingly apparent. In recent years, Iran and Russia, as two friendly and neighboring countries, have had successful and constructive cooperation in resolving a number of important crises in their neighborhood, especially in West Asia, However, the capacities of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, both in the relations between the two countries and at the regional and international level, are much greater, and of course, there are many obstacles in the way of increasing cooperation between the two countries Therefore, it seems that the discussion and dialogue between Foreign Relations Specialists and academic elites is necessary to find common interests and introducing solutions for problems and designing mechanisms for multilateral cooperation to reduce tensions and achieve peace, stability and cooperation in the region.
In this regards the Center for Central Eurasia Studies (of University of Tehran) and the Caucasus Studies Institute, in cooperation with their partners, including Allameh Tabataba’i University, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and the Iranian Association for Regional Studies will hold the second international conference on Iran – Russia Relations in the Light of New Regional Developments.
