Baku – APA. Azerbaijani first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva has met French minister of culture and communication Frédéric Mitterrand, APA reports quoting AzerTAc.
Prior to the meeting, Mr. Mitterand and his delegation viewed a photo exhibition reflecting national leader Heydar Aliyev’s life and carrier. The French delegation then was welcomed by Mrs. Aliyeva.
The first lady said Baku would host Saturday the “Pearls of France” exhibition featuring exhibits from famous French museums.
She described the exhibition as “a remarkable event in Azerbaijan’s cultural life”.
“I’m happy that alongside government agencies, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is also closely cooperating with France’s cultural bodies.”
The first lady hailed Mr. Mitterrand’s support for Azerbaijan in France.
Mrs. Aliyeva said she was happy that in addition to Paris, events promoting Azerbaijan’s culture were being held in France’s regions.
She noted several events would be arranged in the French regions this year.
“And, of course, all these events and meetings are aimed at bringing the people of Azerbaijan and France closer to each other”.
The first lady stressed the “Fly to Baku” exhibition, which would be organized in Paris this April. Mrs. Aliyeva invited the French Minister to attend the event.
Mr. Mitterrand recalled the Azerbaijani first lady’s last year visit to France. He said the meetings held during the visit contributed to “the friendship between our countries”.
The French Minister praised the fact that culture was among key priorities for the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Mr. Mitterrand thanked the Azerbaijani first lady for assistance in arranging the “Pearls of France” exhibition in Baku.
