According to him, the concept will include new approaches to responding to external and internal threats aimed at destabilizing the country. The current Uzbekistan’s National Security Concept Law was adopted in 1997. Preparing of the new version of the law is envisaged by the draft 2018 State Program of Uzbekistan.
The national security concept, just like the Defense Doctrine, the new edition of which was adopted in early January, should adequately respond to the changing global trends and threats to national security, he noted.
At present, one should not limit oneself to fighting with traditional forms of threats, the senator believes. "In 2017, there were some major changes in our approach, that we need to deal with roots, causes," he added.
The analysis showed that there are serious setbacks in terms of providing modern weapons to the Uzbek Armed Forces, he added. To solve this problem, the State Committee for the Defense Industry was established.
